When God truly changes your heart, you stop making excuses and start making commitments.

  1. Stop drifting - Make a _______________________________  to obey God (Nehemiah 10:28-29)

Nehemiah 10:28-29 (NASB) 28 Now the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the temple servants and all those who had separated themselves from the peoples of the lands to the law of God, their wives, their sons and their daughters, all those who had knowledge and understanding, 29 are joining with their kinsmen, their nobles, and are taking on themselves a curse and an oath to walk in God’s law, which was given through Moses, God’s servant, and to keep and to observe all the commandments of GOD our Lord, and His ordinances and His statutes;

2.  Stop Compartmentalizing - Bring your everyday life under God’s __________ (Nehemiah 10:30–31)

Nehemiah 10:30-31 (NASB) 30 and that we will not give our daughters to the peoples of the land or take their daughters for our sons. 31 As for the peoples of the land who bring wares or any grain on the sabbath day to sell, we will not buy from them on the sabbath or a holy day; and we will forego the crops the seventh year and the exaction of every debt.

If your faith only shows up at church, it’s not leading your life.

  1. Stop prioritizing yourself - ___________________________ in what you give (Nehemiah 10:32-39)

What you prioritize reveals who you trust.

4.   Stop hiding your faith - Let your life become your ________________.

When God changes you on the inside, it shows on the outside

Digging Deeper — Covenant Commitment

Covenant Commitment (Nehemiah 10:29)

The people were not just emotional—they were making a binding commitment before God. They took “a curse and an oath” to walk in God’s law, meaning they were choosing accountability and follow-through, not just intention.

In Scripture, a commitment to God carries weight:

Ecclesiastes 5:4–5

“When you make a vow to God, do not be late in paying it… Pay what you vow! It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay.”

God is not honored by good intentions alone, but by faithful obedience. At the same time, we do not commit in our own strength:

2 Corinthians 9:8 “And God is able to make all grace abound to you…”

Our commitment is a response to His grace, not a way to earn it.

A committed heart leads to consistent obedience.
