John 14 : 15-24 Jesus Gives Us His Presence

A Place With God — and God With Us
There is a small connection in John 14 that is easy to miss in English. Earlier in the chapter, Jesus comforts His troubled disciples by saying:
John 14:2 says, “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.”
The word translated “dwelling places” is the Greek word monē.
That word appears only twice in the entire New Testament—and both times are in John 14.
The second occurrence is in our passage:
John 14:23 says, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.”
The word translated “abode” is that same word: monē.
Think about the picture John gives us.
In verse 2, Jesus speaks of a dwelling place for us with the Father.
In verse 23, Jesus speaks of the Father and Son making Their dwelling with us.
The Christian hope isn't simply that someday we'll go to heaven. The great promise is life with God. And that life doesn't begin when we die.Through Christ, we have been brought into relationship with God now, and that relationship reaches into eternity.
That's what makes ABIDE so much bigger than having a daily quiet time. We aren't just trying to fit Jesus into a few minutes of our day.
We are learning to live now in the relationship with God that we will enjoy forever.
